Another day in paradise...
Monday, March 1, 2004
Wow. I just had a really great evening over on Mr. Mark & Ms. Patti's boat. I could have sat over there all night listening to them tell stories...and they've got some good ones. I went over there around 5 and they spent 30 minutes or so showing me all around their boat, and man is it a nice one. It's made by the same company as mine, but is about 15 feet longer, and 20 years younger. This thing is amazing, and after spending the evening on it, I seriously may never own a house...I literally had to remind myself a few times that I was on a boat at all. I would kill for one like that someday. Words can't really explain it very well, so I'll just leave it at that. After the grand tour, Ms. Patti got out some of their charts and started teaching me a few things about pilot charts and all...really good stuff to know. After that Mr. Mark whipped up some killer chicken parmesan. I'm telling you, this stuff was good. They even packed me some leftovers and sent me back with some reading material. It was really great to hear all of their stories from the areas that I'll be cruising through in the next few months...it seems they've certainly been through hell on the water more than once. If you get a chance, check out their website. They are undoubtedly some of the coolest people I've ever known, and I look forward to picking their brain some more before they leave out on their next cruise.
Let's see...what else happened today...Oh, I did laundry again, and somehow a red shop-rag got mixed in with my whites, so I've got a nice pink ensemble going on now...The cable guy came and figured out that the signal isn't good enough at my end of the dock for the internet, so they're going to have to come back out Friday to try and fix it...I got a few small things done on the boat- finally both of the fans are working properly. I began trying to service some of the winches and realized that one of them has completely locked up on me, so replacing that's pretty much going to wipe out everything I've earned working so far. Eh...oh well.
I talked with Rooks & Heather the other day, & hopefully they'll be coming down this weekend for a visit. Unfortunately I've got to work double shifts all weekend, but there should still be plenty of time to hang out. They probably wouldn't have a hard time finding something to do around the beach while I'm working. I have places for both of them to stay in my boat, but I think it'd be pretty tight so I talked with Captain Freeman today about renting a couple of berths from him. He's the caretaker of a houseboat that's here in the marina, & talked like there was 3 beds in there we could use, so that should work out pretty well.
Anyway, it's late & I've got to work lunch tomorrow, so I'm going to run, but I'll talk with ya'll later.
