Welcomed Clearwater
Friday, June 18, 2004
Like I said...I made it to Clearwater Municipal Marina around 10:30 Friday Morning. I may have only had 3 or 4 hours of sleep in the last 42 hours of sailing, but I was siked...I was thrilled to call Mom & Dad, then Mark & Patti, & they seemed pretty relieved to hear from me. I'm not sure that making the jaunt across was that big of an accomplishment, but in the first few minutes of landfall, I felt like it was huge. I finally did something that I had no clue whether or not I could do...something that I'd been training, and practicing for, for 2 years, and it felt great.
I walked around Clearwater Beach for a little while, and was pretty impressed with it...it's a really neat area. I decided that I was going to eat dinner at Frenchy's...a place that Mark highly recommended. After walking around for a while, I found the library & tried to tell ya I made it...then went back to the boat to clean up a bit. Let me tell you...I've never had a better shower than the one I had at Clearwater Marina.
About 6ish, I layed down to take a nap, and unfortunately didn't wake up until 2am. So, I've decided to stick around in Clearwater another day and check out the sights a little more.
Not real sure where the next stop is...probably St. Pete or Sarasota...something along those lines. I'll keep you updated as much as I can!
