De Locals Nose Dit
Sunday, February 22, 2004
Today was another just absolutely beautiful day with a fabulous sunset. Nice breeze blowing...it really would have been a great day for a sail. In fact, I think I noticed Sailboat Terry's boat somewhere across the bay. I spent most of the day back and forth to the West Marine. I love that place because they've got everything boat related that I could possibly need, but they are rather expensive, and I feel like I've done nothing for the past 6 months but hand money over to them. That reminds me...I was supposed to send Heidi up at the Buford West Marine a postcard. Maybe I'll get around to that tomorrow.
So, I thought that I was almost done with the wiring for the mast lights. I thought. I hooked everything up and everything was working great...until. Until the little white wire that feeds the anchor light caught fire. Yup. Flame. Not good. Ok, so back to step one with the mast wiring...I guess next time I won't skimp and try to get by with the wire that's 25 cents a foot...gotta go back to the West Marine to get the 1.09 stuff. I love boats.
I was walking back towards the boat from something like trip 4 when I grabbed Cathy and got her to look at my charts with me. That couldn't have been better...I now feel a lot better about navigating this area, despite the abundance of extremely shallow water. Local knowledge of a place is priceless. Not only that, apparently her & Hank are great at fishing. To prove it to me, she threw a line beside my boat, and caught a nice speckled trout on the 3rd cast. I gotta get a good fishing pole...I left mine in Newnan.
Tomorrow is the big day for job hunting. I plan on going around to all of the big marinas and just seeing what it takes to get a job on a fishing charter boat. I know it'd be a ton of work but that'd be such a good gig.
