Good to see the guys

Ok...let's see...Last I wrote was a Thursday. That Friday, I worked most of the day, and then that night James, Jonathan, Alex, and Craig came down. We went to Snappers and hung out for a little while, but didn't stay long because they had determined that we had to get up early. Why? Well...it seems that the main reason they came to visit was so they could justify a trip to Biloxi. Eh...fine by me. We got to The Grand Casino around lunchtime on Saturday and spent the majority of the afternoon in the poker room. We got out of there with 3 of us in the green. (I walked out with $20 more than I started with...oh, and I got comped a buffet. whoo hoo.) We had a nice seafood dinner on the way home, and made it back around 9:30 or 10 that night. We decided to ride by the Flora-Bama and check out the festivities... It was Mullet Toss weekend, where apparently they have a huge competition to see who can throw a mullet the fartherest. We wandered around for a little while, but they wanted a pretty hefty cover, and the line to get in was a good 75 yards long. No thanks.

We abandoned Mullet Toss and headed back to my boat. Craig went to sleep and the rest of us started playing a little bit of online poker...but the online version isn't that fun after you spent all day doing the real thing. Luckily, a few girls entered the picture and saved the night from complete dorkdom. Shanna and her friend Kelly came by and stayed until probably around 3ish. Shanna is a server at the Back Porch...h er and Kelly both go to Auburn. Anyway, so we hung out on the boat a while, and then they decided that they wanted me to teach them how to throw a cast net. (Luckily, about a month ago Patti taught me how and I'd gotten fairly good at it. The other day I caught 6 mullet in 1 cast!) The girls threw the net some and they got pretty good with it, but we didn't have any luck as far as catching fish was concerned. However, we did pick up lots of phosphorescence. Now...if you don't have a clue what that is, listen up...because it's pretty cool. During the day, this stuff looks like lots of little jelly fish, but at night, when it moves, it gives off this neon green glow. (They say it's really cool when you're sailing at night in the ocean and it can be extremely bright.) The girls really enjoyed it, because when we shook the globs out of the net onto the dock, they could run their hands through it, and it would light up.

After that was about to get old, we saw and heard this huge loud splash about 20 yards away from the dock, out in front of us. It didn't take us long to see the fins of a few dolphin that were out making lots of racket. They swam around for a while, but eventually decided that they had somewhere else to be. Like I said...this is about 3am, and the girls leave. So, probably about time for everybody to go to bed, right? Nah...for some reason, Jonathan decides it'd be a good idea for them to go ahead and head back to Georgia so that they would be back by lunchtime Sunday. I'm not exactly sure how he convinced everybody, or how he was able to wake up Craig and convince him, but before I knew it, I was saying 'bye' and they were pulling off.

Sunday morning I woke up and had to go to work...They were just pulling into Athens. Glad I didn't make that trip...
